The newly approved Chicago NISA professional soccer team announced the hiring of veteran sports executive Night Train Veeck as its Chief Operating Officer. Veeck will oversee the team’s community engagement, marketing and operations. He is a seasoned sports marketing executive with a diverse domestic and international background across five sporting leagues.

Veeck brings over two decades of sports experience including 14 seasons between Independent and Minor League Baseball, followed by seven seasons in Major League Baseball with the Chicago White Sox, and two seasons in professional cricket. He is well versed in all forms of marketing and fan engagement at the grassroots, club, and league levels. His expertise spans digital marketing, ticket sales, corporate partnerships, and non-traditional marketing initiatives.

Most recently, Veeck returned to the U.S. after almost two years as League Fan Engagement Specialist for Cricket Australia’s Big Bash League in Melbourne, Australia. During his time there he led numerous league fan engagement initiatives and helped create the inaugural BBL Indigenous match honoring Indigenous Australians, while learning the game of Cricket and marketing one of the newest, most successful leagues in the world.

“My love for Chicago is no secret, and to be able to start something so special in a city I love is a fantastic opportunity. Peter’s vision for this club is incredible, and I’m excited to join him on this journey of bringing a new team, and a new brand of fun to fans in the community.” Veeck said.

Chicago NISA President and CEO, Peter Wilt, who hired Veeck said, “Night Train is a passionate man of the fan, and I look forward to him rededicating that passion back into the Chicago community. He lives and breathes the fan experience and is a massive believer in delivering that experience to everyone that enters the gates. Train has successfully implemented numerous fan-centric campaigns on two continents and is no stranger to rolling a tarp, which I appreciate,” Wilt said.

When not living in a stadium, Night Train resides in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood with his partner Loz, and dog Wicket. He earned his B.S. from The College of Charleston, and a Masters in Sports Administration from Northwestern University.
